Adrienne Falk Bergen, PT, ATP

Adrienne is a pediatric physical therapist and assistive technology practitioner, who specializes in seating and wheeled mobility. She has practiced, written, and taught in this field for the last forty years, helping therapists and suppliers improve their skills in the field. She was the first president of NRRTS, and worked with RESNA to create the first certification for rehabilitation technology suppliers. In retirement, Adrienne moved to Florida where she has continued to work as a volunteer and to serve on committees to support continued development in the field. Adrienne is a wife, mother, and grandmother.

Jamie Noon

Jamie has spent twenty-three years involved in seating/mobility services and developing innovative seating designs in the U.S. and abroad, after studying the fine arts. In the mid-1990s, he worked as a seating/mobility clinician at the Rehabilitation Engineering Center at Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford. He has provided seating/mobility clinical and technical training in Russia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nicaragua, Mexico, Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia, China, Phillipines, Vietnam, and Colombia. Jamie is a contributor to the development of International Wheelchair Guidelines for developing countries coordinated by the World Health Organization.

Jessica Presperin-Pedersen, MBA, OTR/L, ATP

Jessica has been an occupational therapist since 1979, and began developing her expertise in wheelchairs and seating a year later. She has worked at major rehabilitation centers, outpatient clinics, schools, private practices and residences for individuals with developmental disabilities. She was one of the founding instructors for the occupational therapy program at Governors State University. Jessica enjoys sharing her experiences through writing and teaching throughout the world.

Betsy McKone, BA, OTR, ATP

Betsy has worked in the field of seating and mobility for over twenty years, first as a seating clinician at the Rehabilitation Engineering Center at Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford and more recently as a rehab technology supplier for ATG Rehab, in Mountain View, California.

Cindy D. Smith, PT, ATP

Cindy graduated from the University of Vermont in 1978 with a BS in physical therapy. She has worked in the outpatient department at Craig Hospital since 1990, specializing in people with spinal cord injuries. She is currently the outpatient therapy coordinator and is an integral member of both the Skin Clinic and Seating/Positioning Clinic. She obtained her ATP certification through RESNA, and is currently working on her DPT through the University of Colorado.

Mark Richter, PhD

Mark is the director of MAX mobility, an assistive technology R&D company, and an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Vanderbilt University. Mark earned his PhD in mechanical engineering from Stanford University, with an emphasis in rehabilitation engineering, and has been active in the field since 1995. Dr. Richter’s research interests include wheelchair design, propulsion technique, wheelchair setup, adaptive exercise equipment, and recreational technologies. He has taught several project based courses where student teams designed assistive devices for clients with disabilities.

Brenda Canning, OTR/L

Brenda has been an occupational therapist since 1984 and has worked primarily in adult rehabilitation. She has been at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago for the last eight years, working exclusively in the area of seating and mobility for adults with a wide variety of disabilities. Her most challenging work has been with clients having longstanding disabilities (several years to several decades), a large percentage having spinal cord injuries. She has lectured at the International Seating Symposium as well other continuing education courses for allied health professionals, and has authored and coauthored articles on seating and wheeled mobility.
